| Hole 9: Poplars |

Dangerous dog leg left hole that requires respect albeit it is not very long. Fairway runs out at 210 yards from back therefore again some do not favour driver or 3 wood. Look to fade a 2-3 iron off the left trees with perhaps 4-5 iron if off the yellow tee. Ideal shot is placed on the corner of the dog leg at 180-190 yards from back tee leaving 8-9 iron 2nd shot that should favour left edge of the green irrespective of the pin position. Always see this as a birdie hole if you get your tee shot in position. Anything short of the green kicks right and par from here is unlikely. For Thornton Cup/Leslie Wood the pin is always placed front right if only on the basis that Theydon have a huge advantage knowing how treacherous this pin placement is. If the pin is not front right you are playing a friendly!
