Hole 18  202 Yards Par 3

Jo Shephard, Lady Captain 2013-2014

My tip for the 18th hole (playing as a high-handicapper) is to aim just to the right of the main flag-poleā€¦hopefully your ball  will land and roll down on to the green!

Bill Cross, a member for seven years.

This is my favourite hole. I was playing in a competition and the match was all square as we approached the 18th. I managed to hit a four iron, into the heart of the green, one bounce and it popped into the hole. I lost the match on the 19th but the memory lives on.
Aim your tee shot at the flag pole next to the putting green. Club selection should take account of the direction of the wind and let the ball slide into the green, from left to right, using the contours of the land. The green side bunker usually protects the pin from a draw shot so aiming left of the green is the safer option. Also allow enough club to carry the hazard which snakes between the 18th and 14th fairways. A three is a good result here.
